We are hiring! Following are the job descriptions for two open positions at your South Bend Civic Theatre, Technical Director and Marketing Manager:


Technical Director (full time, salaried)

Responsibilities: Managing the technical operations of the South Bend Civic Theatre including our historic building and two performance spaces – the 207-seat proscenium Wilson Mainstage Theatre and the 80-seat black box Warner Studio Theatre. Excellent organizational, time-management, and interpersonal skills are required. The ideal candidate should have a working knowledge of stage lighting, sound, projection, and set design; carpentry and construction techniques; computerized lighting systems; HVAC maintenance; volunteer mentorship and training; workplace safety; and procedure development.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Oversee set construction for all productions: 2018 features seven (7) on the mainstage, and six (6) in the studio

• Build and/or source all production elements including but not limited to scenery, lighting, sound and props

• Monitor, maintain, and safeguard all lighting, sound, projection, and HVAC equipment (including the scheduling of repairs)

• Supervise and instruct volunteer designers, technicians, carpenters, and backstage volunteers

• Develop an apprentice program in stagecraft skills and safety

• Manage technical rehearsals for every production and event

• Provide general IT support for computers and networks inside the building

• Research, recommend, and install new equipment and systems.

• Direct all production teams on the technical specifications, costs, and usage of equipment

• Insure a culture of safety with all staff and volunteers

• Assist with the preparation and control of production budgets

• Follow policies and procedures as prescribed

• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing

• Maintain irregular and extended working hours

• Lift objects up to 50 pounds using appropriate tools

• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Marketing Manager (25-30 hours/week, hourly)

Responsibilities: The South Bend Civic Theatre is seeking an experienced arts manager to plan, execute, and evaluate subscription and single ticket campaigns; design print and online content including press releases, promotional copy, e-marketing, and social networking; maintain and improve organizational website; and develop both community partnerships and corporate sponsorships. The ideal candidate will be friendly, outgoing, and have at least five (5) years of marketing experience (preferably in the arts) and a demonstrated commitment to excellence, education, and inclusivity. Experience with event planning, website design/analytics, e-marketing, social media, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and CRM (customer relationship management) software is required. Candidate must be comfortable working under pressure on multiple projects.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Plan, write, and implement all external communications and promotional emails

• Set and implement annual and long-range marketing strategy

• Manage marketing budget and resources to meet or exceed box office goals

• Create poster/flyer/web-based images and copy and coordinate all printing and distribution

• Cultivate patron relationships using innovative communication and retention techniques

• Develop and sustain strategic marketing partnerships and cross-promotions

• Work with Special Events Committee on events throughout the year including annual gala

• Collect and compile materials for all production or event programs

• Coordinate program book advertising

• Plan and implement group sales programs

• Manage media relations – local and regional

• Create and send Manage SBCT.org website

• Maintain all SBCT social media

• Manage CRM/ticketing system and box office volunteers

• Follow policies and procedures as prescribed

• Perform other job-related duties as assigned
