Audition Information

Beginning in 2015, SBCT will be holding auditions and volunteer sign-ups for multiple shows four times a year. This new format gives more opportunities for bringing onstage and backstage talent to ensure the highest quality productions.

Auditions typically consist of cold readings from the script. Musical auditions involve singing and dancing portions to their process. Actors will be able to indicate their preference of shows they wish to be considered for in this format.

SBCT staff members will be able to meet with volunteers to fill positions throughout the shows - including backstage, production, front of house (box office and ushers), social media assistance and administrative opportunities.

Unless the script specifies otherwise, all roles are cast without regard to race and/or ethnic origin. Scripts for non-musicals are available for perusal for a three-day period with a refundable $10 deposit.

SBCT productions feature volunteer actors drawn from the Michiana region. Directors attempt to schedule rehearsals around individual conflicts as best they can. SBCT welcomes and encourages actors of all experience levels, from novices eager to get the acting bug to seasoned veterans, to audition.

SBCT is committed to reflecting the diversity of the community by color-blind casting whenever possible (unless dictated by the particular script) and encourages and welcomes actors of all backgrounds to audition.
