Title of Show: Rocky Horror Picture Show (Interactive Screening with Shadow Cast)

Synopsis: Sweethearts Brad and Janet, stuck with a flat tire during a storm, discover the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. As their innocence is lost, Brad and Janet meet a houseful of wild characters, including a rocking biker and a creepy butler. Through elaborate dances and rock songs, Frank-N-Furter unveils his latest creation: a muscular man named “Rocky.”

FRANK ‘N’ FURTER*+
Performed Age: 25-45
Range: Baritone, D3-G4
Character Description: A Transylvanian and the master of the castle. Welcomes Janet and Brad with open arms. Obsessed with creating a man to be part of their sexual entourage. Frank is a master of seduction. LGBTQ+ performer is preferred.

 BRAD*+
Performed Age: 20-30            
Range: Bari Tenor, Bb2-G4
Character Description: Quirky, but very much in love with his fiancé, Janet. Overly optimistic at times. 

JANET*+
Performed Age: 20-30
Range: Mezzo Soprano Belt, A3-Eb5
Character Description: Madly in love with Brad. Always seems to be frightened of something. Keeps losing clothing throughout the story. Appears to be emotionally weak and caves into pressure easily.

 NARRATOR
Performed Age: Flexible
Range: Non-Singing Role
Character Description: Follows our two heroes’ through the story by narrating directly to the audience. 

 RIFF RAFF
Performed Age: 25-45
Range: High Rock Tenor, D3-B4
Character Description: A Transylvanian who came to Earth with their sibling Magenta and master, Dr. Frank ‘N’ Furter. Resembling more of a zombie they often make harmless conversation seem awkward and foreboding.

 COLUMBIA*
Performed Age: Flexible
Range: Mezzo Soprano Belt, E4-E5
Character Description: Columbia is a groupie and one of Frank’s previous lovers; now serves as a servant in the castle.

 MAGENTA
Performed Age: Flexible
Range: Mezzo Soprano Belt, Bb3-Eb5
Character Description: A Transylvanian who came to Earth with their sibling Riff Raff and master, Dr. Frank ‘N’ Furter. Serves as the awkward maid of the castle.

 ROCKY*+

Character Description: Frank’s magnificent and perfect creation. Created with half of Eddie’s brain, they are sexually appealing and have prominent muscles.

 EDDIE
Performed Age: 22-35
Range: Baritone, E3-F#4
Character Description: Abandoned their delivery job to live in the castle. Eddie was Columbia and Frank’s ex-lover, half of his brain was used to create Rocky; A total rock and roll junkie.

 DR. SCOTT
Performed Age: 28-45
Range: Baritone, E3-F#4
Character Description: Brad’s former science teacher and close friend. He ends up at the castle while looking for his nephew, Eddie. 

 PHANTOMS / TRANSYLVANIANS
Performed Age: 18+
Range: SATB
Character Description: Inhabitants of The Rocky Horror Show world.

 

Audition information

SBCT Vaccination Policy

WHAT TO PREPARE:

  • In keeping with the history of Rocky Horror being a show embracing a diverse range of sexualities and gender identities, we are particularly interested in casting actors who identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community. 
  • All actors will be required to sing, act, and dance at auditions.
  • Please dress in comfortable clothing and close-toed shoes for the choreography portion.
  • Please arrive at the beginning of your audition day. You may not be needed the entire time, but should plan on being available for the full length. 

Cast members in Rocky Horror will be required to be vaccinated prior to rehearsals (exceptions may be made for extenuating circumstances, such as health reasons, etc.)

    COVID PROTOCOLS 

    Adult Performers (18 and up):
    CIVIC adult performers are required* to be fully vaccinated; therefore, they will not be wearing masks or distancing while on stage. (*CIVIC directors may make vaccination exceptions for extenuating circumstances, such as health concerns. If this is the case, unvaccinated performers will be required to remain masked at all times including during performances.)
    Youth Performers (12 to 17)
    CIVIC youth performers aged 12-17 are strongly encouraged to get vaccinated. If a youth performer is fully vaccinated, masks and distancing are not required. Unvaccinated youth performers will be required to wear masks at all times both on and off the stage.
    Child Performers (11 and under):
    CIVIC child performers aged 11 and under are currently not eligible for vaccination; therefore, child performers will be required to wear masks at all times both on and off the stage.
