The South Bend Civic Theatre (SBCT) is intentional in our efforts to ensure that our staff, Board of Directors, collaborations, events, and theatrical works offered reflect the diverse community that we are proud to serve.

We have pledged to be a light to illuminate the darkness, a flame to ignite curiosity, and a beacon to guide all toward hope, unity, and understanding.

At this historic time, in the midst of an already debilitating COVID-19 pandemic, we are processing the tragic murder of George Floyd and many others as a result of police brutality and the events that have followed as our country and the world grieves while protesting years of racism, injustice, and systemic inequality.

We stand with those who oppose systemic racism and the senseless murders of Black people in our country and community, as well as those who promote antiracist policies in their corner of the world, big or small, which bring justice and equality, along with lasting healing and peace.

All of us at the South Bend Civic Theatre are dedicated to creating an environment of inclusion and belonging.

Diversity is a source of strength and defining characteristic of the South Bend Civic Theatre. Our commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) enhances our mission and solidifies our distinctive identity as a place of theatre excellence and innovation. We have created the IDEA Taskforce to seek and foster understanding, community, and belonging. The Taskforce is committed to living out our values as an inclusive community through the ongoing integration of IDEA initiatives into the fabric of our programming.

We commit to working with local community leaders to find solutions and open our doors to provide a place for healing.

The SBCT will co-host a community healing event with MIX106.3 FM radio called “HEAL and SEAL” on Saturday, June 27 at 5:00 p.m. featuring area Choirs. The event will be streamed live on Facebook, and Instagram.
